Head Coach Andy Farrell has named his Ireland Match Day Squad to face Italy in Round 2 of the Guinness Men’s Six Nations at Aviva Stadium on Sunday afternoon (Kick-off 3 pm). Ireland opened their Championship with a bonus point win away in France last weekend, and returned to a sold-out Aviva Stadium for their first match.
Six years on from captaining the Ireland Under-20s, Caelan Doris will lead the senior team for the first time when they host Italy in the second round of the Guinness Men’s Six Nations on Sunday. A calf injury prevented Peter O’Mahony from training this week, so his back row colleague gets his first opportunity to captain the squad. Doris said:
“It’s Such A Good Group To Be Leading”
Following an injury-hampered Rugby World Cup when he made just two appearances off the bench, Jack Conan is back in the Ireland number 8 jersey and ready to make the most of it. Conan was part of the six-two split last week on the bench, enjoying the collective impact that they made during the final part of the game. Conan said:
“You need to be on it when you get your opportunity”
