Ospreys scrum half Aled Davies is heading to Saracens on a three-year deal.

The 27-year-old, who was included in the Wales World Cup squad in Japan last year, will remain with the reigning English and European champions until 2023. He won 20 caps for Wales while playing for both the Scarlets and Ospreys.

He won his first Welsh cap came on the 2017 summer tour when he came off the bench against Tonga in Auckland. He then started in the win over Samoa in Apia a week later.

He also featured in four of the five Six Nations fixtures during Wales’ 2019 Grand Slam campaign, including a start in the win over Italy in Rome. He then went to the World Cup in Japan.

“It’s a great opportunity for me at a massive club. It’s an honour to join Saracens and I can’t wait to get started,” said Davies.

“It seems like there is a good team and family ethos around the club, which is very attractive for me and my family. I’m looking forward to putting my stamp on things and hopefully making an impact.”

Davies is one of eight players announced by the Ospreys as leaving the region. He is joined by another Welsh international in No 8 Dan Baker. Former Wales U20 skipper Will Jones is also departing, along with Namibian international wing Lesley Klim.

The other players leaving are props Darryl Marfo and Gheorghe Gajion, lock Ben Glynn and wing Tom Williams.

“This is always a difficult time of the season, but it is also the time to put on record and acknowledge the contribution people have made to the Ospreys,” said Andrew Millward, the Ospreys Managing Director.

“This has been an extraordinary season in many ways and all of us at the Ospreys would like to thank them for their understanding, diligence and patience especially during the lockdown.”
