France remained on course for their first Guinness Six Nations title in a decade with a thrilling victory at Principality Stadium to further dent Wales’ hopes of defending their crown.
Two first-half tries from Anthony Bouthier and Paul Willemse sent France on their way, although three penalties from Dan Biggar helped the hosts to reduce the gap to 17-9 at the break.
Dillon Lewis’ try just after the restart reinvigorated Wales but France fly-half Romain Ntamack intercepted a Nick Tompkins pass and ran in unopposed for France’s third try.
An Ntamack penalty stretched Les Bleus’ lead, and despite a late Biggar try, France held on for a famous 27-23 victory.
