Alldritt aims to make up for 2019 frustrations against Wales

When it comes to Wales, France have unfinished business according to No.8 Grégory Alldritt.

Les Bleus lost two heart-breaking clashes with Wales in 2019, the first in their Guinness Six Nations opener, before a World Cup quarter-final defeat.

In the first of those, France led 16-0 at half-time before going down 24-19 at the Stade de France to the eventual Grand Slam champions.

It was a similar story in Japan as France raced into a 12-0 lead and were still 19-10 up in the second half before Ross Moriarty’s late try allowed Wales to come through 20-19 victors to reach the semi-finals.

And while France’s recent record in Cardiff has not been good – their last win came back in 2010 – in-form Alldritt is desperate to see Les Bleus extend their winning start under Fabien Galthié in their first away game of the Championship.

He said: “We will see how the team reacts to their first game away from home. We are not scared of Wales, I hope we will get our revenge.

“We will reflect on two wins and top spot. I think it’s been a while since that happened. The job is done. There is a lot to learn from these two matches but we will take the positive with the two wins.”

Alldritt has made a very strong start to the Championship, being named Guinness Six Nations Player of the Match in wins over England and Italy, going over for a try in the latter.

And the 22-year-old, who only made his Test debut a year ago, is thriving in the new French set-up.

He added: “I feel comfortable in this team, everyone is enjoying themselves, I certainly am and that is what matters.”
