Extended Highlights: Scotland v England

Loading

England regained the Calcutta Cup with a battling Round 2 victory over Scotland in tricky conditions at BT Murrayfield.

Having lost the Calcutta Cup on their last visit to Edinburgh two years ago, and then watched Scotland retain it thanks to a dramatic 38-38 draw at Twickenham 12 months ago, England headed north of the border with a point to prove.

Both sides had lost their 2020 Guinness Six Nations openers and the strong winds swirling made for a fascinating and attritional battle in Round 2.

Owen Farrell kicked two penalties for England, although he also missed three others, while Adam Hastings slotted a pair of three-pointers of Scotland.

But it was replacement prop Ellis Genge’s powerful finish with ten minutes to go that sealed a 13-6 victory for the Red Rose and a first win of the 2020 Championship.

England now lie fourth in the table, level with Wales above them on five points, as they prepare for a Round 3 game against unbeaten Ireland.

Meanwhile, Scotland’s search for a first victory goes on but they have earned two losing bonus points and have a visit to Rome to play Italy in Round 3 as their next task.

Check out the highlights of a tense encounter at BT Murrayfield that ended with HRH Princess Anne presenting the Calcutta Cup to England skipper Owen Farrell.
