The Grand Slam-winning Wales team of 2019 earned a place in the history books and was a fitting send off for long-serving head coach Warren Gatland.
One thing is for certain, in two years’ time it will not be Gatland in charge of Wales, but with only six of the squad over the age of 30, we could well be seeing some retuning faces to the Guinness Six Nations.
But how does their 2021 Championship fixture list shake out?
Round 1 Ireland (H)
To kick things off it is a home match up with 2018 Grand Slam winners Ireland.
A home advantage could be the perfect way to start and it certainly worked last time as Wales ran out 25-7 winners to clinch the Grand Slam in March.
Gareth Anscombe was the man with the golden boot on that day but will he be the man to kick Wales’ goals when 2021 comes around?
When will it be played?
Sunday 7th February 2021
Round 2 Scotland (A)
The following week sees Wales on the road for the first time as they head to Edinburgh to take on Scotland.
The Scots ran Wales very close the last time the two teams met at BT Murrayfield with Wales edging it 18-11.
Scotland were without their injured talisman and two time Player of the Championship Stuart Hogg. In 2021 Hogg will be 28 years old and perhaps an even better player.
When will it be played?
Saturday 13th February 2021
Round 3 England (H)
England were Wales’ closest rivals in 2019 but ultimately fell short as Wales powered to victory.
The last time England visited Cardiff it was two late tries that were their undoing as Cory Hill and Josh Adams tries sealed victory for Wales.
In 2021 England will return for revenge but will they have the means to overcome the Welsh this time?
When will it be played?
Saturday 27th February 2021
Round 4 Italy (A)
After England, Wales head on the road once more with a trip to Rome to take on Italy.
A trip to the Stadio Olimpico is a daunting prospect for any team however as Wales proved in 2019 after eventually pulling clear to see off a stubborn Italian side.
Luckily for Wales Dan Biggar was on target with his penalty attempts in 2019 to secure victory in Rome.
When will it be played?
Saturday 13th March 2021
Round 5 France (A)
And it will be a trip to France on the deciding day of the Guinness Six Nations in two year’s time.
Last time Wales were there they managed to make history by overturning a 16-point half-time deficit to come back and win 24-19.
They will hope that they won’t need to repeat the great escape again when the fixture comes back around but will be glad that they did as the win set them on course for their Gran Slam title.
When will it be played?
Saturday 20th March 2021
WHAT CHANNEL ARE WALES’ MATCHES ON TV?
