After Edinburgh’s brilliant win over Racing Metro last weekend, they return home to play London Irish in the final pool match on Sunday for a place in the quarter-finals of the Heineken Cup (kick- off 3.15pm). It is the club’s most important match in almost a decade, and they are urging all rugby supporters to get behind them and surpass its Heineken Cup attendance record (7,711), set against London Wasps in 2008.
Edinburgh Rugby captain Greig Laidlaw said: “We need your support. The Racing Metro game was huge and now we’re back home with a chance to achieve something special in front of our home support.†There is no doubt the players are up for Sunday’s challenge, with others sharing Laidlaw’s sentiments and looking forward to playing in front of a bumper Edinburgh crowd!
David Denton tweeted: ‘Stadiums selling out across Europefor final pool games of Heineken cup. Let’s see if we can smash the record at Murrayfield. Massive game!!’ Ross Ford tweeted: ‘Hoping to see a massive crowd Sunday for what is a huge game for Edinburgh. Looking forward to it!’
